John was born and raised in Key West, alternating working between his parents offices all through middle and high school. Exemplifying his ability to help reconcile differences, he began his college career attending the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration before moving on to state rival Florida State University Law School where he received his Juris Doctorate.

After returning to Key West from his educational endeavors he started an IT and web consulting firm where he provided services to his many contacts throughout the Keys. Ever the multitasker, as a creative outlet he also started a photography company where he focused on landscapes and real estate.

In addition to his duties as CTO for Spottswood Companies, he is also a licensed Real Estate Broker.
